In this article we will be reviewing their White Sunshine that’s available at Trulieve in 1/8th oz smokable flower.
White Sunshine Lineage
According to the strains page on Sunshine Cannabis’ website, White Sunshine is an F1 cross of the legendary strain “The White” and “Sunshine Daydream”. Let’s take a closer look at each of the parents that gave birth to White Sunshine, because knowing more about the parents will give us a good idea of what to expect from the offspring. The White is a legendary Florida hybrid that got its name from its appearance. The buds are absolutely covered in trichomes giving a white tint to the buds. You can definitely see The White’s trademark characteristics coming through in the White Sunshine from Sunshine Cannabis. According to Leafly, the other parent in this particular cultivar, Sunshine Daydream, is an indica-dominant cross between Appalachia and Bubbashine (a Bubba Kush and Blue Moonshine hybrid). The genetics making up White Sunshine are outstanding and as good as they get. This particular selection by Sunshine Cannabis that I’m reviewing is caked in resinous trichomes, staying true to the claim on their site. This brings us to the next part of the review and that’s the look, feel, and aroma, aka “bag appeal”.
Bag Appeal
Now we are to the fun part of the review. After getting home from my trip to the Orlando North Trulieve, I throw my keys on the key ring and go into my cannabis cave to conduct a thorough review. As I crack open the freshness seal on the jar of White Sunshine TruFlower, my senses are immediately over run with the pungent aroma of fresh cannabis that’s been well cured. Notes of sweet pine fill my nostrils followed by a funky gas that’s sharp and pronounced. This is a triple bagger for sure. Meaning it needs three bags to keep it from making the entire place smell like a Trulieve grow house. The jar smells so good I can’t help but closing it and re opening it to get a fresh blast of the terpenes. According to the lab report from ACS Cannabis Labs, the dominant terpenes are Limonene, Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Pinene. The report is right in line with the different notes that are expressed from the flower. I immediately think my neighbors are going to complain about the noise because these buds are REALLY LOUD!! So far so good, now onto the looks of the buds. These smell amazing, but how do they look?
Well as you can tell from the pictures above, this strain is gorgeous, and lives up to its namesake. The flowers are a good size with a nice, tight bud structure. Completely covered in trichomes, it’s really easy to see why White is in the name. The White parents’ trademark look definitely comes through strong on White Sunshine with beautiful bright green flowers covered in white trichomes with sprinklings of orange hairs.
Taste and Effects
For this review I decided to roll up a nice joint of White Sunshine and used my Trulieve grinder, that works like a charm. As you can see from the picture, the flower produced a load of kief that fell through the screen of the grinder. I, of course immediately dumped it all on top of the coarsely ground flower, and twisted up a nice phat joint. With my very first draw, my senses were consumed by notes of sweet gassy piney funk followed by that oh so familiar dankness that smokers love. For the heavy smokers out there, you know what I’m talking about. The smell immediately activates recall memory to dank times in the past. The smoke is nice and smooth with little to no irritation. This is definitely one of the smoothest smoking flowers in Florida. Throughout the entire joint that was about a gram or so, I didn’t cough one time. Normally I cough periodically while smoking a joint from beginning to end, but this one stayed smooth all the way till the very end. The nice, white ash tells a similar story of cleanliness. This is also backed up by the Certificate of Analysis from ACS Labs. I’m excited to see how the effects are from this beauty.
Not long after taking in my first draw of White Sunshine I feel a warm, relaxing sensation spread throughout my bod, and my muscles begin to relax, and my mind begins to slow down. I’m a Florida medical marijuana patient, and use cannabis to treat my physical injuries(herniated disc, muscle spasms, pinched nerves) as well as my mental health(anxiety, depression, insomnia etc). The physical relief that White Sunshine provides cannot be understated. It’s one of a few strains that relax me completely. I know this because it’s taken me two evenings to write this review because I fell asleep after finishing a joint on my first attempt yesterday evening. LOL. Great stuff.
The effects of this are quite strong. This is a very potent strain. For patients that do not have a very high tolerance, I recommend titrating your dose to ensure you find your perfect dose without over doing it. Physical relief is just one of the things this powerful flower delivers along with great mental relief. At the end of a busy day my mind is normally racing with ideas, and trying to slow it down can be quite the chore sometimes. White Sunshine does the trick and some. Within minutes my thoughts began to slow down considerably. Within thirty minutes I was very chill, and free of any anxiety or mental tension. Not only did I fall asleep fast after medicating, but I stayed asleep for a solid four hours before waking up to use the restroom in the middle of the night. Most nights I wake up every hour or so from insomnia. Few strains help me sleep this soundly, and White Sunshine will be added to a short list of mine for sleep, joining the likes of Afghan Moon and 9lb Hammer.
Overall this is a phenomenal strain, and another home run by Sunshine Cannabis. White Sunshine is in the top tier of medical cannabis strains in Florida, and any other state. I’ve worked in and consumed medical cannabis in five different states and Florida’s quality and selection are on par with the rest of the country, with White Sunshine being a true standout amongst the bunch. Sunshine Cannabis was voted best cannabis brand for a reason, and the quality and attention to detail thats so evident in their medical cannabis products is why. I look forward to reviewing more of the Sunshine Cannabis strains that were dropped for 420 and new ones yet to come.
